At the age of 81 years, former Chief Minister of Delhi and senior leader of congress, Sheila Dikshit passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2019. Following a cardiac arrest, she was admitted at Escort Hospital. A multi discplinary doctor team conducted advanced treatment which made her health condition stable. But it was temporary. Soon she had another cardiac arrest. Despite all effort, she passed away at 3:59 PM at the hospital.
Cremation of her body is scheduled at 2pm of Sunday, June 21 2019, Nigam Bodh ghat, Delhi.
She had been the Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013. (Elected thrice as CM). She was the longest served chief minister of Delhi. January of this year, she has been appointed as chief of Congress City Unit. In recent Lok Sabha Elections, She contested against BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, North East Delhi Seat. She lost by 3.66 lakh votes.
She became MP for the first time from Kanauj, Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha seat in 1984. Honourable President, Prime Minister and other politicians have been tweeted and expressed their condolences.
